Article 370 verdict will complicate Kashmir issue, Says ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan

Imran Khan has claimed that Supreme Court of India’s verdict on abrogation of Article 370 will complicate the Kashmir issue more.

Islamabad: Jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has claimed that Supreme Court of India’s verdict on abrogation of Article 370 will complicate the Kashmir issue more.

On Monday, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud stated that it cannot accept the petitioners’ argument that the Union government cannot take actions having irreversible consequences when a proclamation issued by the President under Article 356.

Pronouncing the verdict on pleas challenging abrogation of the Article, the CJI said that there are limitations prescribed by the Constitution on power of the Union government which can be exercised in states when a proclamation issued by the President under Article 356 is in operation.

Imran Khan, who has been imprisoned in the Adiala jail of Rawalpindi, in a message said that the verdict on pleas challenging Article 370 is controversial and unlawful. He further said that the Supreme Court of India has made the Kashmir issue more complicated.
