5 killed as train catches fire in Bangladesh

The fire reportedly took place at Gopibagh, in an old part of Dhaka near the megacity's main rail terminal.

New Delhi: As many as five persons were reportedly killed after a train caught fire on Friday in Bangladesh. Police suspecting an arson attack during unrest ahead of election.

Reportedly the four coaches caught fire on the Benapole Express. It was going to capital Dhaka from the western city of Jessore.

The fire reportedly took place at Gopibagh, in an old part of Dhaka near the megacity’s main rail terminal.

A user named Ferdous took to X platform and posted a photo, which is believed to be the photo of the burning train. “A train again set in fire in #Bangladesh after #BNP called out for violent protest to disrupt the upcoming election. Where is your human rights now,” the post was captioned.
