WhatsApp Payments: Here’s how you can set it up, send and receive money using it

WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging app worldwide. The app created a buzz when it announced the WhatsApp Payments’ plan for India.

The users can make all the UPI payments WhatsApp Payments feature. WhatsApp Payments supports truncation through 160 banks in India

In November last year, Facebook partnered with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to announce the launch of Unified Payment Interface (UPI) based payment option on WhatsApp.

Those who do not know how to set up a WhatsApp Pay UPI can do so by the following steps:

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your mobile and click on the three dots on the top right corner of the app. If you are a iOS user then click on the ‘Settings’ option on the bottom right corner.

Step 2: Now click on the ‘Payments’ option and select ‘Add Payment Method‘ option.

Step 3: A window that reads Send and receive money securely, right where you chat will show up and will show asking you to accept the WhatsApp Payment policies.

Step 4: Read and accept the terms and conditions carefully before giving approval. Click on ‘Continue’ button.

Step 5: Select your bank from the list of banks given to you. Further, if you have multiple accounts with the same bank, select the account on which you want to activate the UPI facility. Note that you should have the same number linked with your bank account and WhatsApp.

Step 6: A SMS will be sent to your phone to verify your account.

Step 7: After a successful verification, create a UPI PIN in case of new UPI registration for future payments.

Now you can send and receive money through WhatsApp.

How to Send Money through UPI via WhatsApp Payments

  1. Open WhatsApp app.
  2. Go to Payment option.
  3. Select the contact number of the person you want to send money.
  4. Then you just have type the amount you want to send.
  5. Type the PIN to complete the transaction.

You can also send and receive money using a QR code and UPI.
