Berhampur: A youth was stabbed to death near Brahamapur railway station under Gosani Nuagaon police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district late last night.
The deceased has been identified as Anil Panda, a resident of Trinath street, Gudsed road here.
Sources said, Anil engaged a verbal spat with another youth near the platform No : 4 . Their argument turned ugly when the latter repeatedly attacked Anil with a sharp weapon and fled from the spot.
The victim sustained critical injuries in his chest and stomach. He was rescued by the locals and rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The autopsy test of the body will be conducted today , police said .
Though the exact reason behind the murder is yet to ascertain, police said prima facie, it is suspected that Anil was attacked over past enmity.
“Further investigation into the incident is underway and a man haunt has been launched to nab the accused”, police said.
