Sambalpur: Tension ran high at Budharaja daily market under Ainthapali police limits in the distict this morning after a youth sustained bullet injury after being shot at by a miscreant over past enmity.
The injured has been identified as Mantu Podha, son of Makaru Podha who operates a vegetable shop in the market.
As per Makaru, the accused identified as Siria Jena reached his shop at around 7 AM in the morning and started arguing with Mantu over the past dispute.
“As the argument between them escalated further Siria took out a pistol and shot at least one round of bullet at my son which hit his lower left leg,” said Makaru.
Some fellow vegetable vendors immediately overpowered the accused on the spot and thrashed him mercilessly to snatch away the pistol. He was later handed over to police.
The victim has been admitted to Sambalpur DHH for treatment where his condition is stated to be stable.
Police have started investigation into the incident.
