Nuapada: In yet another case of man-animal conflict over dwelling place, a youth sustained critical injuries after being mauled by a wild bear in Mantritarai village under Khadiala block of Nuapada district today.
The victim has been identified as Hurdanand Majhi, a resident of the same village.
As per the report, the attack took place while Majhi was on a visit to a village pond to attend nature’s call. A wild sloth bear which had sneaked into the village last night in search of food pounced on him and mauled badly.
The bear fled from the spot after the victim sustained grievous head injury in the attack.
Family members of the victim has admitted him to Khadiala Community Health Centre (CHC ) for treatment, where his condition is stated to be critical.
