Woman pharmacist caught red-handed while taking bribe for injection

Berhampur: Tightening the noose around the necks of the corrupt officials, Vigilance sleuths arrested a woman pharmacist to administer an injection to a patient in the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here today.

The accused has been identified as Merry Khan. She had demanded the bribe for injecting anesthesia to a patient for surgery, says report.

The anti-corruption wing officials swung into action after receiving a complaint from Manas Samantray, son of the patient Hatakeswar Samantray of Gajapati Nagar area in the city. Samantray who had been undergoing treatment at the hospital was scheduled to be operated last night.

However, the accused Pharmacist demanded a bribe of Rs 800 from Manas ahead of the surgery and was caught while receiving the amount red-handed by the Vigilance officials.
