Cuttack: A woman was allegedly looted and raped at Khuntuni village in Athagarh area of the district last evening.
According to reports, one Sushant Nayak of Khuntuni village looted a woman and raped her at knifepoint while she was returning home after withdrawing money from State Bank of India (SBI) of Khuntuni branch.
“A native of Khuntuni village lodged a written complaint with us alleging that one Sushant Nayak of the same village looted his wife at knifepoint and raped her at a lonely place while she was returning home after withdrawing money from the bank. Based on his complaint, we have detained Nayak for interrogation,” said Khuntuni police station IIC.
“We have sent the woman and the accused for medication examinations and further investigation into the matter is underway,” the IIC added.
