Berhampur: A woman was killed and four others in her family sustained critical injuries after an auto-rickshaw they were travelling in was hit by a bus near Ambagad on Digapahandi main road in Ganjam district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Ranjita Dalai of Gunasagar village.
As per the report, Ranjita along with four others in her family was en-route to a temple in the area when the driver of a speeding passenger bus which was coming from the opposite direction lost control over the wheels and ended up hitting their auto-rickshaw.
As the auto-rickshaw got completely mangled under the impact of the collision post the accident all the members of the family travelling in it turned critical. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
A minor boy who was among the injured has been shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack of late due to critical condition.
Police have reached the spot and seized the mangled vehicle to start an investigation into the crash.
