Angul: Continuing with its crackdown on history-sheeters in the district, Angul Police nabbed dreaded criminal Bilu Khan during an encounter in Darjeng Project area last night.
While, Bilu sustained bullet injury on his leg during the raid two of his associates managed to give police a slip.
As per the report, a special squad of Angul Police chased chase Bilu and his associates after getting a tip-off on their presence near Darjeng Project area at around 11.30 pm last night. After finding the cops nearing them the criminal opened fire at them. As the cops retaliated with return fire after a bullet pierced into their bike tyre, Bilu sustained bullet injury on his left leg and was caught.
He was immediately rushed to Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment.
Bilu was involved in the Rantalei petrol pump loot case, said police.
Efforts are on to nab the absconding associates of Raja and Bulu, who are residents of Talcher.
