Bargarh: Police arrested a woman in Talpali village under Gaisilet Tehsil in the district on Friday after a video showing her mercilessly thrashing her mother-in-law went viral on internet recently.
The accused woman has been identified as Balamati Sahu, wife of Parsuram Sahu of the same village.
Balamati could be seen dragging, verbally abusing and thrashing her mother-in-law before the eyes of a number of mute spectators in the village, the video of which is making rounds on various social media platforms since last two days. The video shot on the mobile phone of an unidentified person was later uploaded to social media sites.
However, the video created uproar after being aired by Kalinga TV yesterday following which Gaisilet police lodged a suo-motu case to nab Balamati from her house this morning.
The accused has been forwarded to court.
