Veteran Leader Damodar Rout’s Wife Passes Away
Bhubaneswar: Senior Politician and BJP leader Damodar Rout’s wife Snehalata Mohapatra passed away after prolonged illness at a private hospital here on Thursday. She was 72.
According to reports, Snehalata Mohapatra was not keeping well for a long time and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. She is survived by husband Damodar Rout, son Sambit Routray and daughter Preetinanda Routray.
As soon as the news of her demise broke out, Senior leaders from BJP as well as BJD reached Damodar Rout’s residence to pay their last respects to the departed soul.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik too visited Rout’s residence and conveyed his condolences to the family members.
Notably, expelled BJD leader Damodar Rout had joined BJP on March 14. Post this, his daughter too resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
After joining the saffron party, Dama Rout has been appointed convener of State BJP Campaign Committee.
