Vegetable vendor run over by unknown vehicle in Balasore

Balasore: A vegetable vendor was killed and another person sustained grievous injuries after an unknown vehicle hit their cycles on NH-60 near Sahupada of Balasore district today.

The deceased has been identified as Surendra Das, a resident of Gandarada village under Remuna block of the same district.

As per the report, the victim along with one Niranjan Giri of his village, who also sells vegetables were en-route to work at around 4 AM in the morning when the mishap took place. The driver of a speeding unknown vehicle, suspected to be a truck, which was heading to Nua Bazar area lost control over the wheels and ended up mowing them from the rear.

While Surendra was crushed to death after coming under the wheels of the truck Niranjan sustained serious injuries after falling off his bicycle.

Local police rushed to the spot and sent the deceased for autopsy after sending the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment.

An investigation has been launched to trace the absconding truck driver.
