Two officials arrested by Odisha Vigilance while accepting bribe

Subarnapur: In one more Vigilance operation today, Debananda Naik, Data Entry operator and Kuna Naik, In-charge Secretary, both of Sibatala PACS, Tarva Block in Subarnapur district have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs 8,000 from a complainant in connection with paddy sale.

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid today wherein the accused Data Entry operator and In-charge Secretary were caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance in the office room of Secretary, Sibatala PACS while demanding and accepting the bribe money from the complainant.

The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Debananda Naik and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Debananda Naik gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential Govt. houses of Debananda Naik and Kuna Naik located at Sibatala under Tarva Police station limits.

Both the accused will be forwarded to the Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Bolangir.

In this connection, Vigilance Sambalpur P.S. Case No.8 dated 10.03.2022 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
