Tusker tramples 5-year-old in Kamakhyanagar, Father critical

Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident, a tusker has trampled a 5-year-old boy to death in Mahuldagar village of Kamakshanagar under Dhenkanal forest range late on Thursday night.

The deceased minor boy has been identified as Rishi Jerei, son of Rasananda Jerei of the village under Tumusinga police limits.

Reportedly, a tusker entered the village late last night while everybody was asleep. The jumbo broke into Rasananda’s house and threw him after picking him up with his trunk. Thereafter, the tusker trampled the five-year-old Rishi.

The father-son duo was rushed to the Kamakhyanagar Hospital in critical condition. However, the doctors pronounced Rishi dead.

Later, Rasananda has been shifted to Dhenkanal District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) as his condition deteriorated.

Notably, the people of Kamakhyanagar are terrified due to repeated elephant attacks.
