Balasore: A man committed suicide after killing his wife after allegedly suspecting her character in Baripada village under Khantapada police limits near Soro in the district last night.
The deceased couple has been identified as Budhiram Majhi (32) and his wife Tulasi Majhi.
As per the neighbours of the couple, an exchange of words took place between Budhiam and his wife over certain issue which later escalated into a heated verbal duel late in the night. The accused who had returned home in an inebriated condition, took out a blunt object and thrashed his wife mercilessly in a fit of rage, killing her on the spot.
Later, as the alcohol effect wore off the accused realised his mistake and committed suicide by hanging himself to a ceiling fan at home.
Neighbours of the family called up Khantapada Police this morning and intimated about the incident.
Police reached the spot and seized the bodies for postmortem.
Police said the accused who worked and lived in Kolkata was suspecting the character of his wife since long and this could have led to the murder.
