Puri: Acting on the allegations of irregularities in the measurement of petrol, surprise checks were conducted at different petrol pumps here today.
According to reports, the city police, officials of Civil Supplies and Weights and Measures Departments conducted joint-inspections at several oil outlets in the Pilgrim city of the state today.
The checks were conducted following the directive of Puri district Collector Jyotiprakash Das.
Sources said that there were allegations that microelectronic chips are being used by some petrol pump owners to manipulate the calibration system of dispensing pumps.
