Srimandira fund in Yes Bank issue likely to rock Assembly today

Bhubaneswar: The issue related to deposit of Lord Jagannath temple fund in Yes Bank is likely to create a ruckus in Assembly today. The second phase of the budget session of Odisha Assembly is scheduled to commence Wednesday.

As per reports, the Opposition BJP and Congress are planning to corner the government over its decision to keep funds of Srimandira in the private bank (Yes Bank) which lately is going through huge financial crisis.

It is to be noted that concern raised over the fate of the Rs. 545 crore funds of Lord Jagannath’s  Srimandira fund deposited with Yes Bank following the financial crisis in the said bank.

As per reports, Rs. 590 crore of Srimandira fund was deposited with Yes Bank as term deposit in 2019. It is said that to earn more rate of interest the huge amount had been deposited in the said private bank.

Of course, after the concern rose, Odisha Govt. went into action to ascertain that the money of Srimandira at Yes Bank is secured. Accordingly, the temple chief administrator wrote RBI seeking safety of the deposited money. Besides, Odisha Finance Commissioner talked with RBI authorities and then assured that the money is safe.

Hence, after these developments ruling BJD seems ready to face the Opposition.
