Sr Citizens Covid 3rd Vaccine Dose Delay Due To Error In Certificate: Orissa HC Issues Notice To Centre

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court recently issued a notice to the Central Government and the state government on Covid vaccine booster.

Two senior citizens (husband-wife) had filed a writ petition in the High Court saying that they are eligible for Covid Vaccine Booster Dose.

They further added that due to error in date in the Vaccine certificate, their booster dose has been delayed.

It is noteworthy that, the final Covid Vaccine certificate issued to the petitioners contained wrong data about the venue and date on which the second dosage was administered.

The petitioners got the second jab of the vaccine on April 1, 2021, however,
the certificate erroneously read August 19, 2021.

The booster dose is to be administered 9 months after the second vaccine dose in the case of the petitioners, .

However due t0 the error in the certificate, the booster dose is scheduled for the month of May 2022.

The petitioners were age of sixty and thus in the high-risk category.

Upon hearing the matter, Justice Biswanath Rath issued notice to the Assistant Solicitor General of India, and Additional Standing Counsel appearing for State Government and a leading private hospital.

The Court observed that the pendency of the Writ Petition shall not stand as a bar for the Authority in correcting the final Certificates.

“This Court hopes and trusts that both the State Authority as well as Union Authority shall give urgent attention to the dispute involved herein,” said the Court.

Further hearing on the matter has been kept on February 16, 2022.
