Bhubaneswar: Demanding fulfillment of their seven-point charter of demands, the Odisha Shikshya Sahayak Association (OSSA) launched an indefinite agitation at Lower PMG here on Monday. As many as 70,000 Sikshya Sahayaks (SS) have also gone on a mass leave from today to press their demands.
Coming down heavily on the state government, President of Sikshya Sahayaks Association Malaya Jena said, “Some of us, though were appointed in 2011, are yet to be regularised. Besides, we are not getting the benefits of 7th Pay Commission or any other facilities. As the government has been making false promises to fulfill our demands since long, we have called for this indefinite strike again.”
The seven-point charter of demands of the teacher are as follows:
- All the teachers appointed on 2011 should be regularised soon.
- Aids after death and accidental cases for all.
- The designation, ‘Sikshya Sahayak’ should be changed.
- An increase of 25% in the pay scale of the Sikshya Sahayaks according to the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
- Relaxation in transfer rules and the total number of CLs should be increased to 15 from 12.
- An increase in the grade pays of permanent teachers from Rs 2200 to Rs 2800.
- Relaxation in OT-ET provisions for the teachers appointed in 2012.
On the other hand, School and Mass Education Minister, Badri Narayan Patra said that the state government has fulfilled almost all their demands and is taking steps to address the remaining ones.
“We will hold discussion with them to find out a solution and see that the students who are writing their exams are not being affected,” the Minister added.
