Bhubaneswar: Mancheswar police today arrested seven persons for allegedly hacking one youth to death in Rangamatia area on September 10. Police said that past enmity was the motive behind the murder.
The youth Deepak Behera (25) had died after a group of three people had attacked him with sharp-edged weapons.
The accused have been identified as Soumya Ranjan Parida, Suresh Chandra Sahoo, Pratap Parida, Prafulla Parida, Pramod Parida, Malay Ranjan Tarai and Manoj Behera. Police said that they are also trying to nab another accused identified as Chaina Chemi involved in the murder.
“The deceased had earlier assaulted Soumya, Suresh and Chaina in recent past. So the trio hatched the murder plot and hacked him with sharp-edged weapons. We have also recovered the weapons used in the crime,” said a police official.
