Sambalpur Remains tense after double murder

Sambalpur: Tension ran high in Thelakopada village under Sambalpur Town police limits on Monday after a youth was brutally hacked to death by a group of miscreants and the killing was avenged by another murder in the area few hours later.

The deceased duo has been identified as Sujit Nag and Shankar Mukhi.

The first killing took place early in the morning in which one Pandav Mukhi along with a group of his aides led Sujit into a trap over past enmity and left him critical by attacking with shovels and sticks near Laxmi Talkies Square.

The victim died under treatment at Sambalpur DHH where he was rushed following the incident.

After the news spread, Sujit’s supporters attacked Pandav’s house in the village and torched it. They also stabbed Shankar Mukhi, Pandav’s elder brother after finding the accused missing from the house. Later on they roughed up Pandav’s father and fled from the spot.

Shankar was rushed to the hospital later in the morning and died under treatment.

Sambalpur SP Sanjeev Arora has reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Police personnel in large number have been deployed in the village in view of the prevailing palpable tension.
