Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Wednesday forecast rain and thundershower at most places in Odisha during the next 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal.
According to the press release issued by IMD, the low pressure, which was formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal yesterday, now lies over North Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood.
The low pressure is likely to cause heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in the districts of Interior Odisha and heavy rainfall at one or two places in the districts of Coastal Odisha during the next 24 hours.
Strong gusty surface wind from Southwesterly direction with speed reaching 35-45 KMPH gusting to 55 KMPH is likely to prevail along and off Odisha Coast, added the release.
Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into sea as the sea condition would be moderate to rough on the Odisha coast.
