Prime accused in Aska Congress MLA candidate murder arrested

Berhampur: In a success to police in Congress Aska MLA candidate Manoj Jena murder case investigation, the prime accused Bhagwan Sahu was nabbed on Saturday.

A team of Baidyanathpur arrested Sahu after conducting a raid on his hideout in Ganjam district.

Earlier, Berhampur Police had issued a lookout circular against Sahu on June 5. Police arrested at least five persons suspecting their involvement in the murder. While four accused were apprehended from Laxmipur area in Koraput district another was nabbed from Balugaon railway station.

Notably, on May 22 bike-borne miscreants opened fire at Jena and one of his associates while they were returning from Bhubaneswar in a SUV. The assailants had also hacked Jena with sharp weapons. He died in a Bhubaneswar based private hospital later, while undergoing treatment.

Police will appeal for a five-day remand for Sahu in the local court, says reports.
