Posing as Bank’s customer care agent Cyber fraudster dupes man of Rs 2 Lakh in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A cyber fraudster defrauded a man from the capital city of Odisha and duped an amount of Rs 2 lakh from him. The cybercriminal posed as a customer care executive of the bank and manipulated him.

As per reports, the victim searched for Bank helpline number on Google search and called the customer care executive on the basis of the search. However, actually he had called a cyber fraudster who was not any way related to the bank. The victim had called to know why automatically money is getting debited from his bank account.

The cyber fraud, posing as customer care agent tactfully managed to earn the OTP from the caller and duped him with Rs. 2 lakh. Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Das informed about it.

Das also mentioned that about Rs. 25 lakh fraud of such kind has taken place so far in this month.

Police and cyber experts have advised to collect the genuine number of the customer care from the official website of the bank or company to avoid such fraud.
