Puri: Pipili police today busted vehicle theft gang and arrested three members of the gang. Police said that the gang was involved in the theft of vehicles from Khordha, Puri and Bhubaneswar.
The accused have been identified as Tahir Akhtar alias Niki (22), Mohammad Karim alias Tipu (28) and Asif Khan (22), all were the residents of Pipili. Police seized a Tata Sumo and 10 two-wheelers including a bullet from the gang.
Police said that the gang members were nabbed during an investigation into the theft of an SUV at Jagannathpur village under Pipili police limits on July 9.
“The gang is involved in the theft of vehicles in various area of Bhubaneswar. We are further verifying their antecedents and are also trying to nab four other gang members,’ said inspector in charge of Pipili police station, Sarat Chandra Sahu.
