Over 90kg Ganja seized from a car in Koraput

Around 90 kg of ganja was seized by police while being smuggled in a car from Andhra Pradesh to Jeypore in Koraput district.

Koraput: Around 90 kg of ganja was seized by police while being smuggled in a car in Odisha’s Koraput district on Thursday. The ganja, which is estimated to be around Rs 9 lakhs, was being smuggled from Andhra Pradesh to Jeypore, said sources. However, the ganja smuggler and the driver fled from the spot in fear of getting caught. They even left the car on the spot.

According to reports, the Lamataput police put barricades around Kadri village after getting some information about the ganja smuggling from trusted sources. During the checking, a speeding Hyundai car broke the barricades and tried to escape when police asked to stop the vehicle. After being pursued by the police for some distance, the trader and the driver stopped the vehicle in a forest near the Limaput village and fled from the spot.

Police found 90 kg of ganja worth Rs 9 lakhs in the car. Police is investigating the case.
