Omicron variant: Odisha CM directs officials to keep hospitals ready in 10 days

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday directed the concerned officials to keep the hospitals ready to fight the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2.

In view of the surge in COVID positive and Omicron variant cases in the State, Patnaik held a review meeting today regarding the State government’s preparedness for its fight for the possible third wave of the pandemic.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister reportedly directed the concerned officials to prepare all COVID hospitals and ICUs functional fully ready within 10 days. He asked them to make the arrangement of beds that were used during 2nd wave of the virus.

He also urged the official to meet the vaccination targets in mission mode with a focus on 15-18 age group vaccination.

Patnaik also urged the people to follow all necessary COVID protocols like wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing and sanitising hands regularly.
