Angul: A youth allegedly poured flammable material on himself in Angul over love affair on Saturday.
The youth has been identified as Biswanath Nayak, a native of Ishwar nagar village in Angul district.
Sources said, the victim alleged that he had a love affair with a girl of the same village for the past many years. The girl denied to marry him and fixed her marriage with another man.Therefore he set himself on fire.
The police noticed him and rushed towards him. On seeing the police he ran outside the police station premises and caught him and doused the fire.
He was immediately shifted to Sub-district hospital(SDH) in Pallahara for medical treatment.
Later, the police have started a probe into the matter.
