Odisha Panchayat Polls: 5 Polling booths allegedly captured in Jajpur district

Jajpur: If reports are to be believed, at least five numbers of polling booths in Jajpur district of Odisha were captured during the 1st phase of the polls on Wednesday. Accordingly, casting of votes has been suspended in these booths.

As per reports, it has been alleged that the No. 1 booth of Sujanpur, No. 2 and No. 3 booth of Erabank panchayat, the No. 4 and No. 5 booths of Rudrapur panchayats were captured by miscreants. It has further been alleged that the miscreants ransacked the No. 1 booth of Sujanpur and snatched away the Ballot papers. It has been alleged that bombs have been hurled amid breach of security in the No. 2 and No. 3 booths of Erabank.

A viral video has surfaced that shows that a number of people are together putting ballot papers in the Ballot box in Rudrapur panchayat.

Casting of votes has been stopped in the booths where cases of violence allegedly took place. Jajpur BDO has informed that if these allegations are true strong actions will be taken against the persons involved in the violence.
