Odisha MLA Sura Routray returns from Delhi, reacts over change of Congress State president

Bhubaneswar: Jatni MLA senior Congress leader Sura Routray returned Odisha today from Delhi after meeting Rahul Gandhi. He said that the change in Odisha PCC will take place by May 20. A decision will be taken in this regard after the Jaipur seminar will be over.

During his meeting with former AICC President Rahul Gandhi reportedly talked to the senior Odisha Congress leaders individually and sought suggestion of the leaders.

“We requested Gandhi not to discuss the matter in presence of everybody, rather it should be individually discussed,” Sura said.

“I have proposed for change of Odisha PCC president, along with appointment of 4 working Presidents, 8 vice presidents, and 20 secretaries,” he said.

“The main two leaders of Congress are Sonia and Rahul. Their decision will be final. I am not in the race for the state PCC chief,” he said.

Asked about the rumour on former Chief Secretary Bijay Patnaik’s joining Congress Sura said that he has Bijay Pattnaik has sent slip to meet Sonia. Even Braja Tripathy has also met Sonia. “Whoever will be interested to join Congress we will welcome them. In 2024 Congress will come to power,” he said.

About fielding of Kishore Patel as Congress candidate for the Brajrajnagar by poll, Sura said Kishore is an efficient leader. Earlier he has become speaker and also a minister. He has done a lot of works towards development of Brajrajnagar. I think he will win, he said.
