Odisha: Industrialist Mahima Mishra Granted Bail In Mahendra Swain Murder Case

Bhubaneswar: Orissa High Court today granted bail managing director of Odisha Stevedores Limited (OSL),  Mahima Nanda Mishra in connection with the murder of Mahendra Swain, the general manager of Seaways Shipping and Logistics Limited (SSLL).

Swain was shot dead by four assailants at Paradip on October 26 in 2016. After the murder of Swain, Mishra had managed to escape Odisha even though Odisha police had issued a look out circular and later the court issued a non bailable warrant against him.

Mishra was later arrested in December 2016 after being detained at Bangkok Immigration Centre. As per police, before leaving Bangkok, Mishra had visited places like, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Amritsar then to Nepal through road.

Police investigation had revealed Mishra of getting frustrated after SSLL emerged as major rival to OSL and the new firm managed to bag two major stevedoring contracts. Later Mishra hired another accused Rakesh Choubey by paying an advance of Rs 12 lakh and assured him partnership in his business to eliminate Swain. Mishra is currently lodged at the Choudwar jail.
