Bhubaneswar: They say a dog is man’s best friend. And, one pet dog in Odisha went beyond and sacrificed his own life to protect his owner’s family, fighting a cobra.
A pet dog, fondly called Laden, died after it was bitten by a venomous snake but saved it’s master’s two little children in the Janla area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Monday evening.
The incident took place while two grandchildren of one Sunil Krushna Samantray were playing under the portico of their house and the pet was tied with a chain. The family members were also sitting outside of their house. During the period, a 5-ft-long cobra was trying to enter the house.
After seeing the snake, the family members shouted with fear and two children started crying.
However, Laden jumped over the snake and attacked the reptile following which the latter died on the spot. Soon after the brave dog also succumbed as he suffered several bites of the venomous snake.
