Puri: A 60-year-old contractor was shot at in front of his house in Subarnapur under Gop police limits in Odisha’s Puri district on Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Uma Sahu. He sustained bullet injuries in his both legs. He was shifted to Bhubaneswar for treatment.
According to reports, two youths came on a scooter and opened fire at Sahu in front of his house this morning.
While the duo was trying to flee from the spot, villagers overpowered them and thrashed black and blue. The angry locals also set the two-wheeler on fire.
On being informed, Gop police reached the spot and rescued the accused from the villagers.
The accused have been identified as Muna Pradhan and Pintu Swain. Several criminal cases are pending against both the accused at different police stations in the district, police said.
