Odisha CM Dedicates ‘Odia Virtual Academy’ Web Portal

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to promote Odia language and literature, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the new web portal of ‘Odia Virtual Academy’ -www.ova.gov.in – here today.

“It’s a matter of pleasure that the new web portal of ‘Odia Virtual Academy’ is being dedicated today. On this occasion, I convey my good wishes to you all (people of Odisha),” said Patnaik.

“You all know that our Odia language is very rich and glorious. It has also been accorded with the national language status. From medieval period to the modern era, very good literature has been created in Odia language. ‘Odia Virtual Academy’ has been shouldering the responsibility of digitisation, well preservation and publication of those rich literary creations. This will pave path for the wide publicity and spreading of Odia language, literature and culture at the global level,” he added.

The Chief Minister also stated, “I believe that the Odia Virtual Academy will immensely benefit the Odia brethren, especially our younger generation, living in various parts of the world.”

On this occasion, the state government also signed three MoUs with the University of Chicaco Library, C-DAC and Centre for Internet and Society, Bengaluru.

The pacts were inked to expedite digitization of Odia literature and development of Odia software.
