Bhubaneswar: In a big achievement Mancheswar Police busted an interstate battery theft racket in the capital city of Odisha and seized 1500 batteries. Six persons have been held in this context. All the accused persons are from West Bengal, Police said.
As per reports, it came to the notice of Mancheswar Police on Wednesday that huge numbers of batteries were being shifted to other vehicles from 3 trucks. Police suspected activities of the persons involved and detained the three vehicles.
After preliminary investigation it was found that the persons could not provide any authentic documents regarding the batteries and transportation.
Accordingly, Police have seized the batteries and arrested 6 persons in this context. All these accused persons are from West Bengal, Police said. The batteries were being illegally transported from Odisha to West Bengal.
