Odisha: 12-hour bandh hits normal life in Kantamal

Boudh :  Normal life came to a halt in Kantamal town in the district on Saturday  in response to a 12-hour bandh called by Koshal State Coordination Committee to press its three-point charter of demands.

The committee’s demands include sub-division status to Kantamal, functionalisation of the bridge over Tel river and eviction of illegal encroachments in the town.

Vehicular traffic on the roads came to a grinding halt in the town due to the dawn-to-dusk bandh.

Commuters had a narrowing time reaching their destinations as the protestors resorted to picketing and road blockade in different places in the town.

Educational institutions, shops and other business establishments remained closed in the town due to the bandh.  Other organisations including some political outfits also extended support to the bandh.

The district administration made adequate security arrangements in and outside of the town to avoid any untoward incident during the bandh.
