Nuapada: A minor accident that took a violent turn after an occupant of a car opened fire at a motorcyclist and his pillion rider in Nuapada district on Saturday , the main accused has been arrested by the police.
The main accused Raja Panigrahi has been arrested while he was trying to escape to Chhatisgarh and even the footage of the firing incident has been captured by the CCTV.
Yesterday,the father-son duo, identified as Saroj Meher of Jagannath Chhak and Naba Meher, was on a motorcycle. They sustained bullet injuries in their legs and were first admitted to a hospital in Sinapalli and later shifted to Khariar Mission Hospital after their condition deteriorated.
The incident took place after the car occupants and father-son duo allegedly had an argument after their two-wheeler dashed against the vehicle.
From the main accused, the police recovered a country-made mouser, 4 live bullets and 2 magazines and a car.
A case has been registered against the main accused at the Debhog police station and has been court-forwarded.
The main accused will soon be brought into transit remand and then more investigation to follow, informed Khariar SDPO Santak Jena.
