Mo Bus gets Centre’s Award of Excellence

Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), Bhubaneswar, has received Award of Excellence for implementing best urban transport project Mo Bus service in Odisha. The conference was organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in Delhi.

Reportedly, General Manager (P & A) Dipti Mahapatro has received the award.

The CRUT operates 225 buses under Mo Bus and has adopted and implemented a policy of hiring more than 50% of its bus conductors as women. ‘Mo E-Ride’ (electric rickshaw system) in Bhubaneswar acts as a feeder service to Mo Bus operations. Electric ride, one-of-its-kind-gender inclusion and empowerment through public transit pilot project. It will promote women and transgenders as drivers.

All the buses are already equipped with with Automatic Vehicle Locating System, Automatic Fare Collection System, Public Information System, on-board announcement WiFi and CCTV surveillance. Around 57% of private vehicle users have shifted to Mo Bus service.

It is noteworthy of that CRUT have won Urban Mobility India award organised by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India thrice in a row. In the year 2020, CRUT was awarded for ‘Innovations undertaken in Urban Transport during Covid-19’ and in 2019, for ‘Best City Bus Service Project’.

Earlier this year in February CRUT also received the Smart Cities India Awards 2021 under the category Smart (SPV) Special Purpose Vehicle.

Meanwhile, Odisha Transport Commissioner, Managing Director (MD) of CRUT Arun Bothra has congratulated Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) for winning three national awards in three consecutive years and wrote “You have made Odisha proud again.”
