Bargarh: Unidentified miscreants gunned down a man during a loot attempt in Jarmuda village under Bargarh Town police limits last night.
The deceased has been identified as Basant Pradhan of Baragaon village in Sambalpur district.
The incident took place at around 12.30 pm last night at one Hiralal Mahanta’s house in Jarmuda village while all members in his family were asleep. As the perpetrators knocked the door of the house, Basant came out to open it and was fired at.
He sustained bullet injuries on his hand and arm pit and turned crtical.
After looters fled from the spot family members rushed Basant to a nearby private hospital and then shifted to VIMSAR due to deteriorating condition. He died during the shifting.
Police have reached the spot and seized the body for autopsy.
The victim had come to visit his sister’s house and staying there for past few days while the attack took place.
