Sundergarh: In a shocking incident a youths thrashed a minor girl to death merely for a chicken in Kumbharpada village under Hatibari police limits in Sundergarh district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Rashmita Dungdung of the same village.
As per the report, a chicken farmed by Rashmita’s neighbour and the accused Sameer Dungdung had died a few days back. A verbal duel erupted between Rashmita and Sameer’s family late last night as the latter blamed them for the incident and escalated into a heated argument, subsequently.
Later, in a fit of rage the accused took out a wooden plank and thrashed Rashmita severely leaving him critically injured.
Though, the victim was rushed to Rourkela Government Hospital immediately she died under treatment.
Hatibari Police has arrested the accused after reaching the spot and started investigation into the case.
