Balasore: In a shocking incident, a man injured his father-in-law grievously by slitting his throat following an argument in Mantridahi village under Baisinga police limits in Balasore today.
The accused has been identified as Lingaraj Mohanta.
As per the report, Lingaraj who had tied the knot with the daughter of the victim identified as Ratnakar Mohanta a few years back was demanding more dowry from him. Lingaraj was also subjecting his wife to inhumane torture regularly to bring more dowry from home due to which she had fled to her parents’ home recently.
A verbal duel erupted between Lingaraj and his father-in-law as the latter expressed his unwillingness to send his daughter to her in-laws house. Later, in a fit of rage the accused slit his throat with a sharp knife.
Family members have rushed the victim in a critical condition to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
A case has been lodged at the Baisinga Police Station in connection with the incident.
