More medical colleges to come up in Odisha soon: State Health Min

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government will soon launch a new health policy in the state to eradicate the scarcity of doctors in the State as well as their brain drain, informed Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das here today.

Das was expressing his concern over the migration of doctors out of the State in search of jobs every year when said, new medical colleges will be launched in the State soon to produce more doctors to fill-up the posts lying vacant at various government hospitals. At the same time proper care will be taken to check their brain drain, he added.

As per a report, new medical colleges are on anvil at Talcher, Puri and Sundergarh and could come up in the coming days.

Similarly, addressing the need of a Director for Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences And Research (VIMSAR), Sambalpur, Das informed the appointment process for it has begun. The post is lying vacant after Dr Ashwini Pujahari’s resignation a few times back.
