Jajpur: A man was sentenced with Life Imprisonment (LI) on Wednesday for killing his sister-in-law(elder brother’s wife). Jajpur district and Sessions judge convicted the accused for the crime that had been committed back in 2018.
The convict has been identified as Chittaranjan Tripathy, a resident of Iswarpur village under Mangalpur police station of the district.
As per reports, on 31st May 2018 an argument took place between Chittaranjan and his sister-in-law Madhusmita Mishra due to some family issues. The argument took an ugly turn and he attacked Madhusmita with an axe. As a result of the attack the woman got killed.
Following the murder, Mangalpur police arrested Chittaranjan for the charges of murder and the case was going on in the Court.
After years of hearing the Jajpur District and Session Judge Biranchi Narayan Mishra, has sentenced Chittaranjan with life imprisonment along with a fine amount of Rs 10,000 failing which he will have to serve another year of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI).
