Koraput Road Accident: PM Narendra Modi Announces Rs 2 Lakh Ex-Gratia

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the kin of the deceased persons. This was informed by the Prime Minister’s office.

The PMO on it Twitter handle said that an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund would be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the unfortunate road accident in Koraput.

It further said that Rs 50,000 would be given to those who are seriously injured.

“My thoughts are with all those who have lost their dear ones in the tragic accident at Koraput, Odisha. I hope those injured recover at the earliest,” the PM had said earlier today while expressing his grief over the loss of lives in the road accident.

It is worthwhile to mention here that nine persons were killed while over 15 others sustained injuries as a pick-up van on which they were travelling in overturned near Murtahandi under Kotpad police limits of Koraput district yesterday evening.

The road accident took place when the deceased and the injured were returning home after attending the 10th-day mourning rituals of one of their relatives in Kotpad area. They were identified as residents of Nagarnar area in Chhattisgarh.
