Khallikote crorepati Ganja trader arrest: Police to take accused on 2 days remand

Berhampur: Ganjam Police will take Rajanikant Patnaik, the crorepati Ganja trader from Khallikote area on two days remand, informed Ganjam SP Brijesh Kumar Ray in a presser today.

On Friday huge amount of gold, silver, ganja, opium and cash had been seized from house of the accused.

As per reports, Ganjam Police had applied for four days remand in Ganjam ADJ Court. However, he will be taken on 2 days remand. On the other hand, Police has also questioned son of the accused and also located his bank accounts.

Also, directive has been issued to Khallikote Tehsildar to access the amount of property of Rajanikant.

Again, Police will also reportedly take help of STF in the investigation. Three teams have been formed under the leadership of Ganjam SP to probe the case. One of these teams are probing the case in Bhubaneswar. Also, Kandhamal SP has been directed to investigate about the illegal Ganja trade of the said accused.

Rajanikant had kept the gold jewelry as mortgage from others that were seized yesterday. His banks accounts will be reportedly freezed.

It is to be noted that Khallikote Police on Thursday night seized Rs 75 lakh cash, gold weighting 8.5 kg from the house of Rajanikant Patanaik, an illegal Ganja trader from Khojapali village under Khallikote Police limits Ganjam district in Odisha.
