8.5 Kg Gold, Rs 75 lakh cash seized from house of illegal trader in Ganjam

Khallikote: In a big achievement, Khallikote Police on Friday seized Rs 75 lakh cash, gold weighting 8.5 kg from the house of an illegal trader in Khallikote area of Ganjam district in Odisha. During a raid conducted jointly by Police and the Excise Department huge amount of opium and Ganja was also seized from his house. It was informed by  Ganjam SP in a press meet conducted in Khallikote Thana premises.

The huge amount of gold, Ganja, cash, opium etc. were seized from the house of Rajanikant Pattnaik of Badadanda sahi in Khojapali village under Khallikote Police limits of the district.

As per reports, acting on a tip off Khallikote Police along with Bhejiput Out Post Police on Thursday night conducted raid in the house of Rajani. During investigation it was learnt that Rajani was illegally bringing Ganja from Kandhamal. He was bringing the contraband in his Scooty for illegal trading.

During the raid 34 kg Ganja, 10 gram opium, Rs 75.9 lakh cash and gold weighting 8.59 kg was seized from Rajanikant’s house.

The accused Rajanikant has been arrested.
