Justice Raghubir Dash appointed as acting Chairperson of Odisha Human Rights Commission

Bhubaneswar: Former Orissa High Court Judge Justice Raghubir Dash has been appointed as the acting Chairperson of Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), according to a notification made by Odisha’s Law Department on Wednesday.

” In exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (I) of the section 25 of the Protection of Human Rights Act , 1993 (ACT 10 of 1994),  the Governor of Odisha is pleased to authorize Sri Justice Raghubir Dash , former Judge of Orissa High Court, Member, Odisha Human Rights Commission to act as the Chairperson of such Commission with immediate effect until appointment of a regular Chairperson,” the notification said.

Dash, who is currently a Member of the ORHC, will hold the office with immediate effect until the appointment of a regular Chairperson of the commission.

Last year, the State Government had appointed Justice Dash as the chairman of the commission of inquiry for probing into the missing of Ratna Bhandar keys of Shri Jagannath Temple in Puri.
