Prasad press meetBhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan on Monday demanded a probe into the windfall gains in business made by Jay Shah, son of BJP national president Amit Shah, after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister and his father the president of the ruling party.

Addressing a press meet here this afternoon, Harichandan claimed that the “Sabka Saath..Sabka Vikash” slogan given by the BJP actually meant “Amit ke Saath, son Jay ka Vikas.” Claiming that Jay Shah’s company Temple Enterprises Pvt Ltd could not have achieved a turnover of Rs 80 crores in 2015-16 starting from a mere Rs 50,000 in 2014 without illegitimate patronage from the BJP at the Centre and the party needs to answer on that.

Earlier in the day, state minister and a senior leader of BJD Damodar Rout had also brought the same allegation against Amit Shah claiming that he was involved in son’s business and played a bookie. Citing a report published on a website “The Wire”, Dama said Jay’s company achieving a turnover which is 16,000 times more than the previous year can only be dubbed as gambling and made possible by Amit in power.

However, spokesperson for the BJP in Odisha Sajjan Sharma dismissed the report published on “The Wire” website and rubbished Dama’s allegation pointing to the fact that Jay had already filed a criminal defamation case of Rs 100 crore in the Ahmedabad court against the writer of the article.
