Cuttack: At least one person was killed after a speeding Hyva hit the scooter he was travelling by near OMP square in the city last night.
The deceased has been identified as Jagabandhu Moharana of Bidyadharpur area.
Moharana was en-route to Newmarket area in some work from OMP square while the mishap took place. Driver of a speeding Hyva which was coming from behind lost control over the wheels and hit the victim’s scooter killing him on the spot.
Some bystanders chased and nabbed Hyva driver after the crash while he was trying to flee from the spot. He was later handed over to police.
The body of the deceased has been sent for autopsy and an investigation is underway in the incident.
